Gerald Delbert Hull Sr., "Jerry", 85, of Terrell, TX passed away on January 13, 2021, in a hospital in Sunnyvale, Texas.
Visitation with the family will be held on January 23, 2021, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Terrell, TX, at 10 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. and interment at Oakland Cemetery in Terrell.
Jerry was born on September 2, 1935, to Cleo Hull and Margaret Welch in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Jerry will be remembered by his children, Sindee Hull, Terrell, TX; Tammy Gillispie (Wayne), Los Angeles, CA; Gerald Hull Jr. (Tracy), Kaufman, TX; Jeffery Hull (Heather), Kaufman, TX. Grandchildren, Taylor, Cindy, Hailey, Scotty, Brett, Colten, Harleigh, Hunter; 2 great grandchildren; numerous step/half siblings; nieces, nephews, extended family; and many friends. Jerry was predeceased by his father, Cleo; mother, Margaret; sisters, Yvonne, Corrine, Carroll, Sharon; and his wife Sylvia.
Jerry married his wife, Sylvia, on February 10, 1961, at the Dallas County Courthouse. He was a family oriented man, who worked hard to provide for his family. Jerry dropped out of school to help support his father and sisters after the passing of his mother Margaret. He later earned his G.E.D. in Terrell, TX. While living in Michigan, Jerry served in the Michigan Army National Guard, then went on to serve in active duty with the United States Army. After 3 years of service in the Army, Jerry re-enlisted with the Texas Army National Guard and served for 20 more years before retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He had several different jobs throughout his life, including driving a truck for Sears Roebuck, working in sheet a metal factory, T.I.S.D. bus driver, and part time at Walmart.
Jerry was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Terrell, where he served as a deacon, and also worked in the church nursery with his wife, Sylvia, for 20+ years. He was a member and deacon of Bible Baptist Church, and also with Fellowship Baptist Church of Terrell for several years, and spent the last few years as a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Terrell.
In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family in various activities; fishing, trips to amusement parks, and spent time volunteering as an Assistant Scout Master and camping with his sons.
