Willis Lee "Bill" Tatro, devoted husband, father, Navy veteran, and entrepreneur, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Good Friday, March 26, 1937, in Joliet, Illinois, Bill lived a life rich in purpose, dedication, and love.
Bill’s early years took him from Illinois to Indiana and back again, forming lasting family bonds and discovering a passion for music—especially the bassoon. His musical talent led him to Florida State University, where he met the love of his life, Lynnie Kate Cavin. Their shared love of music blossomed into a lifelong partnership, culminating in their marriage in 1959.
Following a change in career paths, Bill served proudly as a U.S. Navy pilot, stationed in Washington, Alaska, and Florida. He later brought the same discipline and drive to his many business ventures—from carpet cleaning and tax preparation to founding a successful plating company, Pot Metal Restorations. Whether restoring antique car parts or filing taxes for airline professionals, Bill’s entrepreneurial spirit and craftsmanship left a lasting legacy.
Bill and Lynnie made their home in several states but eventually settled on a quiet property near Havana, Florida—fondly known as the “Havana Woodsy Lodge.” There, Bill enjoyed a well-earned retirement filled with family visits, music, handiwork, and storytelling. A man of faith, he was an active church member and choir singer wherever he lived.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of over six decades, Lynnie; their children, Allyson and Mark; grandchildren Kevin, Kellie, Kayse, Vance, and Harmony; and great-grandchildren Will, Kendall, Jack, Nathan, and Blair. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched with his humor, hard work, and unwavering love for his family.
