Sue Alethia Padon Clark passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the age of 98. Sue Alethia Padon was born November 24, 1927, in Lamesa, Texas to Sarah Tennie Yant and Jesse Emzy Padon. She joined five-year-old Ina Mae to complete their family. They lived in Big Springs, Texas until Sue was in 3rd or 4th grade, when they moved to a farm near Spade, Texas. Sue graduated as valedictorian of her class in Spade in 1945 and was encouraged by her teachers to attend college. She graduated from Texas Technological College in Lubbock in 1949 with a degree in physical education. Sue married Garland Ross "George" Clark on August 14, 1949, in Spade. They made their home on a farm near Olton, Texas until the mid-1990's. Sue was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband on the farm. George and Sue enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, snooker and pool with family and neighbors. She grew a large garden every year. She was an excellent seamstress, making most of Carla's clothes during her school years. She was an avid photographer and took thousands of photos, especially after retirement. She enjoyed playing golf at the Olton Recreation Center for many years. After retirement from farming, George and Sue took up fishing and moved to South Texas on Falcon Reservoir in the mid 1990's, living there until 2005, when they moved to Rio Concho Manor in San Angelo, Texas and remained there until 2015, when they moved to Garland, Texas to be near their daughter Carla.
Sue is survived by a son, Rodger Lee Clark (Tamra) of Albuquerque, NM and a daughter Carla Dawn (J D Caudle) of Garland, TX. She is also survived by a namesake niece, Martha Sue Blessing of Azle, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and husband.
A brief private ceremony at DFW National Cemetery is pending. A Celebration of life service is planned for a later date to be held at Christian Care Center, Mesquite, TX.
