Stephen Gerald Starkes, a dedicated truck driver with a remarkable career spanning 35 years, passed away on March 8th, 2024, in Kaufman, Texas. Born on September 29th, 1957, in Dallas, Texas, Stephen was a high school graduate of Scurry-Rosser.

Throughout his life, Stephen was known for his work ethic and commitment to his profession. He achieved the prestigious 3 Million mile award and was recognized as Trainer of the Year—a testament to his skill and passion for driving. Beyond his career achievements, Stephen's proudest accomplishments revolved around his family; he cherished nothing more than spending time with his loved ones.

In his leisure time, Stephen found joy in simple yet meaningful moments like driving all the grand-kids and great-grand-kids on the mower. His hobbies included being a gun enthusiast, hunter, ammo reload specialist, and engaging in farming and livestock activities.

Described as honest and deeply loving by those who knew him best, Stephen leaves behind cherished memories that will be forever treasured by his family and friends. He is survived by his Wife, Mary Starkes; Sister, Donna Swan-Harris and Husband, Eric Harris; Brother, Brad Starkes and Wife, Carmen Starkes;  Daughter, Stephanie Myles; Daughter, Shannon Smith; Son, Jim Mason; Son, Johnny Mason; Son-in-law, Warren Myles; Son-in-law, Danny Meadows;    Daughter-in-law, Dawnya Mason; 12 Grand-kids; and 8 Great-grand-kids.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Billy G. Starkes and Mother, Sylvia J. Starkes. 

Stephen Gerald Starkes will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his work, his love for his family, and the genuine kindness he extended to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
