Samuel Lee Smith Sr. was born on August 5th, 1958, in Dallas, Texas He was the beloved son of Gerald Smith and Billie Smith. Samuel had a close bond with his family and friends. 

He married the love of his life, Patricia Smith, on May 27th, 1977 in Dallas, Texas.

From an early age, Samuel had a passion for construction and building. It led him to pursue a career as a General Contractor in the construction industry. His dedication to his craft and his unwavering commitment to excellence earned him great respect within the profession. Samuel's work as a General Contractor contributed significantly to the growth and development of many communities.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Samuel had a deep love for various hobbies and interests. He found solace in the rodeo. Samuel also had an insatiable passion for horses and cattle which accompanied him throughout his life. Riding horses in the mountains brought him immense joy and tranquility.

Tragically, on December 24, 2023, Samuel Lee Smith Sr. passed away in Kemp, Texas. His untimely departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

Samuel's Celebration of Life services will be held on January 27, 2024, starting at 1:00 PM at Grays Prairie Community Center located at 11838 S FM 148 in Scurry, Texas. This gathering will be a testament to the impact Samuel made on those around him. It will provide an opportunity for all who knew him to come together and honor his memory.

Samuel Lee Smith Sr. is survived by a loving family who cherished him dearly. His wife, Patricia Smith, his brothers Donald and Carol Smith, Ted and Helen Smith, Joe and Deliah Smith, Keith and Tracy Smith along with their sister Lisa Smith were all touched by his warm presence. Samuel's brother Mike Smith and sister-in-law Diane Smith also mourns the loss.

He leaves behind his son Samuel "Cebo" Smith Jr. and daughter-in-law Shelly Smith, who will lovingly carry on his legacy. Samuel was also blessed with a daughter, Misti, and her husband Eric Waskom, who brought immense joy and pride into his life.

Samuel adored his grandsons, Dylan Smith and Colten Smith "Colt 45", who brought countless smiles and laughter into his days. Their bond was cherished and will be remembered fondly.

In this time of mourning, Samuel's family finds solace in the unwavering support from family and friends including numerous neices and nephews.

Those family members preceded in death are his father, Gerald Smith; mother, Billie Smith; brother, Gary Smith; father-in-law, Richard Bragg; mother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Bragg; brother-in-law, Jerry Bragg; and sister-in-law, Brenda Sue O'Neil.

Samuel Lee Smith Sr. will always be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and unwavering love for his family. His dedication to his work, passion for rodeos, horses and cattle, as well as his adventures riding horses in the mountains have left an indelible mark on all those whose lives he touched.

Although Samuel is no longer with us, the memories of him will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.
