Ruth Kerley

Ruth W. Kerley, of Terrell, passed away on October 19, 2010 at Windsor Nursing Home. Ruth was born in Marquette Kansas, to Floyd Steel and Blanche Rooney Steel on February 19, 1917. She married Lyall Frazier in December of 1933 and they were blessed with three children. She loved to play piano by ear for Church and friends and later learned to read the notes so she could teach others, piano, accordion, and guitar. After hard times, she and Lyall separated and later divorced. She then moved to Vallejo, California and worked at the Naval Base commissary until retirement. She met and married Lawrence Kerley in 1963. They moved after retirement to Pensacola, Florida until Lawrences death, afterwards she moved to Terrell, Texas to be close to her children. Ruth is survived by her son, Larry (wife Roseanna) Frazier of Terrel; daughter, Judith (husband Melvin) Pietz-Jepsen of Kiron, Iowa. Ruth had 5 grandchildren, Laura Frazier of Terrell, Lawrence (wife K. Lee) Frazier of Winnsboro, Edward Kessel, Tampa, Florida and Scott (wife Karen) Kessel, Mtn. Home, Idaho; 13 great grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by; her husband Lawrence; son, Norman Dion Frazier, her parents, brother Tommy Steel, sisters ,Twila VonStrohe, Florede Erway, Half-sister, Mary Adams; grand-son Danny Frazier, great-grandchildren Kira Frazier and Ricky Frazier. Her funeral service under the direction of Goggans Funeral Home will be at 11:00 am Friday 22 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mary Martin officiating. Her burial will follow the service at College Mound Cemetery in Terrell.
