Roberto Mejia, 54, passed away May 5, 2012 in Ft. Worth. He was born June 2, 1957 in San Felipe, Gto, Mexico to Pablo and Maria Del Refugio Hernandez y Mejia. Roberto married Jadell Stoner on August 25, 1978 in Terrell. To this union was born three children; Maria, Roberto and Rosana. Roberto was a parishioner of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Roberto was a member of the American Steelworkers Union; worked for ASC for over 20 years and Oldcastle Glass for 12 years. Roberto was always active. He was a designer, carpenter, builder and handyman. He enjoyed tinkering around the house, remodeling or planning his next project. He was always on the move. Roberto also loved music and loved to sing. He had a very good voice and played his guitar whenever he could. He was also an avid collector of memorabilia of all kinds. But of all his joys and passions, Roberto was most passionate about and proud of his family. His greatest moments were time he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. These were the true treasures of his life. Husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor; Roberto will truly be missed. Roberto was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Maria Hernandez-Mejia. Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Jadell Mejia; his three children, Maria Diaz and her husband Bernardo, Roberto JP Mejia and his wife Annita, and Rosana Mejia with Michael Mings; ten grandchildren, Bernardo BJ Diaz, Leo Diaz, Destiny Mejia, Emily Mejia, Robert Mejia, Erica Mings, Darien Mings, Anthony Mings, Joshua Mings, and Lacey Mings; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. A gathering of friends and family will be held Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at Goggans Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held the following day on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St John the Apostle Catholic Church. His burial will follow the service in the Oakland Memorial Park.
