Richard “Dick” Theodore Guerrera, 97, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away on June 1, 2026 surrounded by his family.

Born on November 9, 1928, to Achille and Inez Guerrera, in Paterson, New Jersey, Richard’s life was a testament to love, devotion, and gratitude.

Richard graduated from Central High in Paterson, New Jersey, in 1948. He went on to serve his country during the Korean War as a Tin Can Sailor aboard the USS Brownson in the United States Navy, where he served as an electrician. He later completed his career as a financial analyst at General Dynamics.

Richard was an artist in every sense of the word. He loved painting with watercolors, drawing, playing the trumpet, gardening, and listening to jazz and Big Band music. He loved dancing the Jitterbug with his wife, Sally. He dedicated many years to community theater in both Massachusetts and California and enjoyed countless hours of woodcarving. A devoted patriot, Richard was extremely proud of his Italian heritage and equally proud to be an American.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sally. He is also survived by his four children, Richard, Michael, Jennifer, and Nicholas; his daughters-in-law, Peggy and Jennifer; his sister, Sandra; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara; his sister, Amalia; and his brother, Achille Jr.
