Margie L. Clark,, 89, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 at her home in Royse City, Texas. Margie was born to Harvey and Ethel Wallace on January 23, 1924 at home in Forney, Texas. Harvey Wallace was a cotton farmer who moved his family to a farm in Lawrence, Texas when Margie was about 13 years old. At 17, Margie moved to Dallas and worked several jobs. These included a sewing room at the Sunshine Cookie Factory. She met the love of her life, William Clark, when she was getting off a Dallas streetcar. William was in Dallas on leave from McCloskey General Hospital in Temple. They married in June, 1945. After William's discharge from the Army, Margie and he moved to a farm in Allegan County, Michigan. They farmed that land for many years and raised eight children: Margie, Jane, William, John, Virginia Cindy, Michael, and Hallie. After William passed away in 1963, Margie returned to Texas with six of her children. She settled in Garland, Texas and lived there for forty years. Margie worked in food service for the GISD for several years; as well as several hospitals in Garland and Mesquite until her retirement at the age of 68. At that time, she moved to Royse City to be closer to her family. Margie loved flowers. She always had something growing inside the house and in the yard. She loved butterflies and the color lilac. Margie was a great cook. She loved to embroider and sew and created many beautiful things. She had a great sense for fashion and color and was meticulous with her clothing and dressed beautifully. She was a joyful, generous and giving person. Margie stayed active until late in life and traveled when she could. She was a great and loving mother and was loved dearly in return. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. Margie is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ethel Wallace; husband, William Clark; brothers, Paschal, Thurman and Clifford; sister Claudine, and daughter Virginia. She is survived by one sister and one brother, seven children, seventeen grandchildren; as well as, numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held the following day, Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Park in Terrell, Texas.
