Julia Ann Shipley

Born August 6, 1940-Died June 1, 2024

Julia Ann Duckworth Shipley

Education: Tripp/Sunnyvale School/Forney High School

Career:  Homemaker, Best Daughter to Nanna and Papa, Best Wife, Marvin (Butch) Best Mother to Three Daughters,

Carpenter, Fisherman, Hunter, Trap Shooter

Personality:  Smart, Loving, Kind, Sassy, Outspoken, and ruled the World with an Iron Fist.  Nothing she couldn’t do.

Built us into strong independent children who knew she always had our backs.

Memories:  There were many. One of mine was we all learned to square dance as a family and went dancing all the time.

Loved those petticoats! My favorite was Holidays Christmas her favorite and it was a month long Event with family at

her house from everywhere.  My proudest memory as oldest daughter was how much she loved grandkids.  My daughter

being first was her sidekick.  She babysat and was just always together. Mom did geneology so they were always going

“Cenetary” Hopping as my three year old daughter would say.  Couldn’t pronounce Cemetary.  She loved us all.  I had

the privilege of caring for her for last 8 years.  Hard job but now I’m a little lost.

Proudest Moments – Look on her face at each accomplishment the kids and grandkids made. No matter how small or big.

Contests, Sports, Graduations, Plays at school etc.

Hobbies:  Fishing, Hunting, Geneology, crocheting, quilting with my grandmother.

I would not be the person I am today if my mom had not been tough on us.  She expected the best with no excuses and

taught us to stand strong through whatever came our way.  Including if we had to finish a fight.  Lol. She would say nothing

you can’t do.  In fact the words, No, I can’t, I don’t want to, or I don’t like it we’re not allowed in our vocabulary and I can

say now even though it was hard a lot of times I would not be writing this if she had been any different. Her faith in God

and the Bible and Jesus in our home and lives saved me many times these last years.
