Johnie Cumbie

Johnie Beth Cumbie, 89, of Terrell, passed away on September 9. Johnie was born on August 12, 1928 in Myra, Texas to her parents, John Thaddeus Harrison and Karin Mae (Rosson) Harrison. Johnie Beth married Jerry W Cumbie, and they spent their life together in Terrell since 1993.

Those who continue to cherish Johnie Beth's memories are: her husband, Jerry Cumbie; her daughters, Connie Kaye Romero and her husband Lloyd, Moonyene Attaway and her husband Larry, Karen Lewis; her brothers, Glenn Harrison, Bill Harrison and his wife Ann; her step son Gary Cumbie and his wife Lynda; and her step daughter, Joy Walker and her husband Ron. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren to continue her legacy.

Johnie Beth worked as a seamstress for Haggar Slacks in Greenville, Texas for 30 years before moving on to work as a Mental Health Worker at Terrell State Hospital, before finally working as a Wal Mart greeter before she retired. Her mother, Karin, passed on to her a great love for sewing and quilting, and practically everyone she came across received a quilt. She loved hummingbirds, all flowers, and just about anything that had to do with being outdoors. She was truly dedicated to her family, and she was known as someone who loved to hug. Johnie Beth was known as "Mamaw," "Memaw," and "Grandmother" to her grandchildren.

Johnie is preceded in death by her parents, John Thaddeus Harrison and Karin Mae Harrison; first husband, William (Bill) Wilson; brother, J.L. Harrison; and sister, Minna Grammer.

Johnie Beth's family will host visitation hours at Goggan's Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 13th, 2017 from 5-7 PM. Her funeral service will be at Goggan's Funeral Home the following day, September 14th, 2017, at 1 PM. Immediately following the service will be the interment at Highland Memorial Gardens. Memorials can be made in Johnie Beth's name to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, or to Cal Farley's Boys and Girls Ranch.
