Glen Weldon Beesley Sr., of Terrell, passed away on March 18, 2010 in Wills Point. Glen was born on October 17, 1926 in Hubbard to George Washington and Gertrude Elizabeth (Green) Beesely. He graduated from Hubbard High School in 1944 and moved to Corsicana. For a short time he served in the US Navy. He met and married Norma Louise Hand in 1948. They moved to Terrell in 1949 and made this their lifelong home. Glen and his dad bought the Fowler Paint Store and changed its name to Beesley & Son Paint Company. After a couple of years, Glen and Norma bought out his dads interest in the store and ran the business together selling paint, wallpaper, and window blinds until 1975. Glen and Norma joined the First Christian Church in Terrell in 1950. He served in the church as a deacon, an elder and the chairman of the board. Glen became a State Farm Insurance agent in 1961 serving the Terrell area for 35 years before retiring in October 1995. Glen was a member of the IOOF Lodge and the Masonic Artesia Lodge for 50 plus years. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and liked watching football and spending time outside with nature. Glen was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, parents, one infant brother, and one son, Mark Anthony Beesley. He is survived by two sons, Glen W. Beesley Jr. of Terrell and Stephen W. Beesley and wife Jackie of Wills Point; his daughter, Deborah Beesley Donohoo and husband Allen of Mesquite; 10 grandchildren, Cressie Mills and husband Daryle of Abilene, Glen W. Beesley III and wife Paige, Bradley Beesley and wife Kala of Terrell, Amie Lynn Beesley and Christian of Garland, Aaron Dale Beesley of Cedar Creek, Kaitlyn Bryanna Donohoo and Michael Shaun Donohoo of Mesquite, James Craven of Kaufman, Robert Craven and Jammie Craven of Terrell; 14 great grandchildren, Brook and Lauren Powell of Abilene, Sloane and Marin Beesley of Terrell, Tyler, Hayden & Madison Beesley of Terrell, Kendall Lopez of Garland, Brianna, Rabecca, and Savanna Craven of Terrell, Ethan and Emily Craven of Mesquite and Angel Dudley of Terrell. His funeral service, under the direction of Goggans Funeral Home, will be March 22 at 1:00 PM in the First Christian Church with pastor Jeff Foster and Jimmy Sheppard officiating. His burial will follow the service in Highland Memorial Garden. Visitation with the family will be Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Glen requested donations be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund.
