Gladys Horton

Graveside services for Gladys Lynn Horton, age 84, of Mesquite, TX will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. at Campground Cemetery in Poetry, TX with Tommy Ford officiating. Mrs. Horton passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at her home in Mesquite, TX.

Gladys was born on May 2, 1937 in Kemp, TX to Sidney DeWitt and Josie Faye Bracey Norris. She graduated from Kaufman High School and later worked for Ayerst Laboratories. She married Sammy Haskell Horton on March 8, 1956 and he preceded her in death in 2009. In her more active years, she loved shopping in Canton at Trade Days with Sammy, spending time with her grandchildren and gardening in the yard.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Scott Horton; grandchildren, John Jr., Amy, Ashley, Jeremy, Allie; sisters, Linda Tidwell and Norma Morrow; daughter in law, Jean Marie Horton; several great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Gladys is preceded in death by her husband, Sammy Horton; parents, Sidney and Josie Norris; son, John Hardin Horton; sister, Nelda Mason; brothers, James “Sonny” Norris and Joe Norris
