Doris Stephens

Doris V. Stephens, 90, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at her residence in Terrell. Doris was born on July 6, 1925 to William and Era Pitts in Terrell, Texas. Doris met and later married Henry Stephens on September 26, 1945. They would establish their home in Terrell and remain here for the rest of their lives. Doris worked as a bookkeeper for McCory's for thirty-eight years. She then continued to work as a bank teller at the American National Bank for another seven years before retiring. She and Henry were faithful members of the Colquitt Road Church of Christ for many years. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, William and Era Pitts; her beloved husband, Henry Stephens; brother Collis Pitts and niece, Tommie Jean Hartzell. She is survived by her grand nephews, Stephen Hughes and Robert Hughes; extended family members, friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held the following day, Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. The interment will immediately follow the service at Oakland memorial Park in Terrell.
