Donnie Hicks

Shelby Donald Hicks, 77, of Forney, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. Donnie was born on May 27, 1937 to Henry and Ruby Hicks in Dallas, Texas. He received an Associates degree in Engineering from UT Arlington. Donnie would work as a contract engineer for over fifty years beginning with Fritz W. Glitch and Dresser Industries before opening his own firm, Dosaco Design in 1980. Donnie met and later marry Sandra Mitchell in 1957. She would remain the love of his life for fifty-seven years. He was a faithful member of the Lone Oak Christian Church for over twenty-five years. Donnie is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruby Hicks; brothers, Henry Hicks, Jr., James Hicks and Kenneth Hicks. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sandra Hicks; son, Doug Hicks and his wife Lisa; daughters, Donna Crabtree and her husband Phil, D.D. Rivera and her husband Ambrose; grandchildren, Cody, Clint, Laurel, Shelby, Lexie, Sam, Hunter, and Shannon; eleven and a half great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family, friends and neighbors. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held the following day, Saturday, January 3, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. The interment will immediately follow the service at Clifton Cemetery in Emory. Reverend Danny Calk will officiate.
