Curtis Werner

Curtis Paul Werner, 72, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015 at his home in Terrel, Texas. Curtis was born September 9, 1942 to Melvin and Dorothy Werner in Berea, Ohio. Curtis would serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force. Curtis then worked for Unisys in computer maintenance for over thirty years. Curtis had a passion for trains. He built live steam engines that a person could ride on and was a member of the Southwest Live Steamers Club for over forty years. Curtis was also a very talented mechanic who loved to tinker with things to see how they worked. There was literally nothing he could not fix or repair. Curtis is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Dorothy Werner. Those left to remember him include his daughters, Amy Edwards, Paula McCurdy and her husband Doug; their mother, Cherry Werner; grandson, John McCurdy; brother, Walter Werner; as well as numerous friends and neighbors. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A visitation will be held one hour before the service at 10:00 a.m. on the same day, also at the funeral home. The interment will be at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Curtis' name to the Reverend and Mrs. James L. Beasley Endowed Scholarship Fund, Centenary College, 2911 Centenary Blvd.,Shreveport, Louisiana 71104.
