Clair Kent Scholten

Sgt. Kent Scholten went home to the Lord on August 6, 2023, at the age of 86 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth C. and Tryntje (Tillie) Scholten of Santa Fe Springs, CA, his infant daughter, Susan Scholten, and his father- and mother-in-law, Clifton and Zelma Simmons of Kirby, AR. 

Kent is survived by his loving wife of almost 43 years, Linda Ann Simmons-Scholten, and their son, Casey Kent Scholten, of Royse City, TX, both of whom nursed him through his last illnesses. He is also survived by son Steven Kent Scholten of Merit, TX; son Thomas Raymond Scholten (wife Jane) of Westminster, CA.; daughter Julie Christine Langham (husband Chris) of Bullhead City, AZ; grandchildren Austin Scholten (wife Andy) of Victorville, CA; Skyler Andrew Scholten of Westminster, CA; Nicholas Scholten of Westminster, CA; Christine Langham of Bullhead City, AZ; 
Christopher Langham of Bullhead City, AZ; and Savanna Scholten of Las Vegas, NV; great­ grandchildren Jonah and Luka Scholten of Victorville, CA. 

Sgt. Scholten retired from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department in 1994 after 30 years of service. He and Linda and their son, Casey, moved from California to Rockwall County, TX in 1996, making it their home. He surrendered his life to Christ in 1997, and the family became active members of Lake Pointe Church. Kent was an avid bicyclist until his knees got the better of him, at which time he resorted to drawing pictures on his iPad. Though he was an artist, his all time favorite thing was storytelling. He loved having an audience.
