Betty Lou Shaw, 78, of Kemp, passed away on August 29, 2017 in the peace of her home. Betty was born on April 2, 1939 in Greenville, Texas to her parents, Robert Fulton Holcomb and Flona Mae (Steelman) Holcomb. In August of 1956, Betty married her soul mate, Thomas Lewis Shaw.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Fulton Holcomb and Flona Mae (Steelman) Holcomb; husband, Thomas Lewis Shaw; brothers: Robert Holcomb, Preston Holcomb, and Ray Holcomb; sisters: Iva Lee Craven, Mary Upchurch, and Marie Trammell; son, Tomas Eugene Shaw; sister-in-law, Margie Holcomb.

Betty will be remembered by her children as the best mom in the world. She was a caring and loving woman, who was always there to help her loved ones. She enjoyed singing and spreading love through music. Betty's gardening brought joy to her life and others. While she was known for her cooking, Betty will be especially remembered for her "Martha Washington Candy," and homemade beef jerky. She had a big place in her heart for dogs, especially her poodles. Betty's siblings and children remember their time with her spent fishing.

Those who continue to cherish her memory are: her sons, Eartis Ray Shaw and his wife Britney, David Wayne Shaw; her daughter, Cherie Harper and her husband David; her brother, Glen Holcomb; nine grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty's family will be hosting their own memorial service on September 5, 2017, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Terrell at 6 pm.
