Barbara Wallace, 64, of Heartland, passed away January 14, 2012 in the peace of her home with her loving family surrounding her. She was born April 8, 1947 in Blossom, the daughter of Vollie Goble Garrett and Pearl Lavonia (Weems) Garrett. Barbara was raised in Childress where she also attended school. Barbara married Herschel Wallace on November 6, 1981 in Dallas. Barbra worked as the business manager of McCaslin TV repair shop in Mesquite, she was an accounting clerk for Buckner Bank, a CNA in health care for Seagoville nursing home and also worked for several Mesquite gas station and convenience stores. Before she retired she worked for Charter Home Healthcare taking care of local residence as well as taking care of her parents. She is survived by her husband Herschel Wallace; children, Lisa McIver, Michael McIver, Jr., Tiffany McIver, Amanda Wallace, and Amy Wallace; grandchildren, Lindsey McIver, Seth Underwood, Noah Underwood, and Mason Smith; brothers, Clyde Cobbie Garrett, Junior Garrett, Goble Garrett, Carlos Wayne Garrett; sisters, Norma Longley, Patricia Harris, Glenda Gorum, Roxie Hyde, Merble Pierce, and Edith Perry; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Barbara is preceded in her death by her parents; brothers, William Garrett and James Buck Garrett; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Garrett and Evelyn Donovan; and her first husband, Michael E. McIver, Sr. Her service will be Tuesday, January 17, at 10:00 am at Goggans Funeral Home, with Brother Lynn Crocker officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell. Visitation with the family is planned for Monday night, January 16, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
