Anita June Moody

February 6, 1943 — January 27, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Anita June Moody, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend. Anita departed this life on January 27, 2026, in Terrell, Texas, leaving a legacy filled with love and kindness.

Born in Memphis, Texas, Anita was the daughter of Clarence Wilber McCool and Mildred Anita Miller. After receiving her education from the Dallas Independent School District, she devoted many years to her career at AT&T in Mesquite, Texas, before retiring. Anita was known for her dedication both at work and in her family life, embodying the role of a loving matriarch.

Anita’s proudest accomplishments centered around her family, especially when she married Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Moody, whom she adored, as well as the life she built with him. Together, they raised children and welcomed grandchildren, a joy that Anita embraced wholeheartedly. Her generosity and sweet disposition were evident in every interaction, and she relished the moments spent with her family. Anita had a special fondness for taking her grandchildren shopping, enjoying lunches, and sharing movie outings. These memories are treasures that will be cherished by her family.

Anita’s talent extended to her hobbies, which included shopping and creating beautiful flower arrangements. She was always set in her ways, yet her loving nature won the hearts of all who knew her.

Anita is survived by her devoted husband, Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Moody; sisters Janie Jenkins Gardner and husband Cotton, Peggi Kohr-Wickliffe and husband Terry, sister in law Paula Meharg; brother David Miller; son Ronnie Moody and wife Darlene; son, Ricky Moody and wife Sheila; daughter Tammy Moody; grandchildren Felicia, Nikki, Kristin, Drew and wife Dani, Korey, Joshua; great-grandchildren Kynleigh, Brayden, Conner, and twins Mac and Livie, Charlie and Thomas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Blakely and Bernice Click; her parents Clarence Wilber McCool and Mildred Anita Miller; her sisters Judy Harvill and her brother John Meharg; her brother David "Dootsie" Miller; and her nephew Gary Harvill and nephew John Ross Meharg.

Anita June Moody will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, family values, and cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
